The Office of Teaching Initiatives processes all applications for NYS educator certification. We are a high volume office and customer facing unit within SED.
The intern would be on a team responsible for overhauling our current website. This includes reworking language, checking for outdated links and language, as well as moving the entire website over to Drupl. The goal of this project is to make the website more accessible and user friendly.
Professional experiences include- learning to create a website with user experience in mind, learning to use a NYS style guide, learning to use and organize Drupl, working with the NYSED Communications team on additional website changes, writing for a public service agency, and managing regulatory and policy language within a pubic facing space.
Qualifications should include excellent written and oral communication skills, someone who is able to do research and asks questions. This person is a self-starter and is willing to multi-task. A communications background/interest is helpful as is an understanding the use of style guides. Knowledge of Drupl is not necessary, but a willingness to learn it is a requirement.
Interns may work a maximum of 29 hours each week. Schedules will be made directly with the supervisor.
This is an unpaid position. We are happy to work with students to help them earn academic credit for their internship with our Department.
